The architecture of the temple reflects the Maru-Gujaru style of architecture and is a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. There were renovations of the temple later due to the Mughal invasion. The Mughal invaders destroyed the carvings and the figurines of the temple. It was sort of their revenge that they took on the Rajput rulers. On their defeat in the hands of the Mewar rulers they were highly agitated. So they took on vandalism to take out their frustration and anger.
However this is a prominent temple of Lord Vishnu even today. People believe that the marble slab of this temple has magical powers in it. They believe that if you rub your knees, back or even shoulder on the marble then it would give a quick relief to pain. Even though there is no proof to justify the belief, even today a good chunk of devotees believe this idea and visit the temple to get rid of pain.
