The Nathmal Ki Haveli or the Golden Fort is a beautiful structure made majorly in yellow sandstone. This was a commissioned Haveli which was meant to be the residence of the then Prime Minister Mohata Nathmal. History of Nathmal Ki Haveli Jaisalmer
Built in 1885 the Nathmal Ki Haveli is built by the brothers of the then Prime Minister of Mohata Nathmal, Lulu and Hathi. The name of this Haveli is also after the Prime Minister of Jaisalmer at that time Mohata Nathmal. According to beliefs both the brothers started building this haveli at the same time but they started doing it individually. They simply just divided the zone and demarcated their areas and started the construction. But they actually did not have any access to check on the symmetry of the construction that led to the construction of a very unique and asymmetrically unique building. The Maharawal of Jaisalmer was impressed by the two brother’s craftsmanship and therefore he commissioned the construction.
