By air

If you are travelling by air then the Maharana Pratap Airport in Udaipur is the nearest airport to reach Nakki Lake. From the Udaipur airport the distance of the lake is about 178 km. It would approximately take you around 3 hours and 10 minutes to reach the location of the lake from the airport. Buses are available on this route that you can opt for to reach the lake. Also you can take a car or hire a cab as well from the airport to reach the lake.

In case you are travelling from abroad then the Jaipur International Airport is the nearest international airport that is well connected. You will get flights from major cities and towns as well as from other countries to reach Jaipur. And from Jaipur the distance of Nakki Lake Mount Abu is 500 km. It would approximately take you around 9 hours to reach the lake from Jaipur. You can take buses from Jaipur to reach Mount Abu. Or else you can take a car or hire a car to reach there conveniently as well.

By train

While travelling in a train the Abu Road Railway Station is the nearest railway station to reach Nakki Lake. The distance of the lake from the railway station is about 28.9 km. By road

Nakki Lake Mount Abu is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region. Located in the backdrop of the Aravalli Mountain range the lake is the centre of Mount Abu. It is an artificial or man made lake which is located at a height of 1200 meters. The Toad Rock is popular with this name as it exactly looks like a toad that is about to jump into the lake if noticed from the side of the rock. There are some ways that can take you up and down the rock. Also you can climb the rock here and there is a way leading to Nakki Lake. From the side of the lake there is another path that leads to the Nakki Lake Sunset Point Mount Abu. The Nakki Lake is a man made lake and a few legends and myths are associated with this lake in Mount Abu. According to one legend the Gods created this beautiful lake to protect themselves from a demon Bashkali. They carved out the lake using their nails which is called Nakh. And hence the name of the lake became the Nakki Lake.

However there is another legend associated with this lake and that is based on a love story. Once there was a king who announced that whoever would be able to dig a lake with their nails in just one night, would get to marry his daughter. Rasiya Balam, a sage used to like the daughter of the king and so he did the impossible task. He dug the lake with his nails in just one night. However even then the king ditched the sage and did not allow his daughter to marry the sage even after completing the task. According to legends Rasiya Balam and his lover were actually incarnations of Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati.

Another legend associated with the lake is about Mahatma Gandhi. It is said that the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi were immersed here and so the Gandhi Ghat was constructed nearby as well.

One of the major as well as popular activities at the Nakki Lake Mount Abu is the boating activity here. It is also one of the most interesting activities to enjoy in Mount Abu as well. Here you will find different types of boats from Paddle Boats to Shikara Boats. The price for the boat ride depends on the kind of boat that you will choose. There are other boats here like row boats and motorboats here as well.  A boat ride on Nakki Lake would be more interesting because of the crystal clear water here.
